The Prague Post has a great review of an new Czech film by a recent FAMU graduate. The new film, Marta, will be shown with the film that the director’s mentor did in 1966 at Kino Svetozor Sept 7 - 13. Both films will have English subtitles. I’d highly recommend them.

Brian Caspe pochazi z Kalifornie, kde studoval hudbu na Kalifornske univerzite v San Diegu. Jiz na univerzite se ucinkoval v mnoha produkcich divadelni katedry a navstevoval hodiny herectvi. Po ukonceni studia se Brian prestehoval do Los Angeles, aby se stal profesionalnim hercem. V LA studoval herectvi ve skole Playhouse West >, kde se seznamil s Meisnerovou metodou.
Od jara 2001 zije Brian v Praze, kde zivi jako filmovy herec (Hellboy, Illusionista, Mlady Hannibal, atd (IMDB)) a prilezitostnou praci v reklamach (vice nez 30 v posledni 4 roky). V dubnu 2003 zacal vyucovat Meisnerovu metodu, zprvu aby ziskal schopne “sparring partnery” pro vlastni pripravu. Diky zajmu studentu se vsak hodiny herectvi staly pravidelne a otevrene vsem zajemcum.
Se svym zapisem proto nevahejte, samotne kamerove zkousky v ramci konkurzu vam nepomohou se zlepsit. Brian vam nabizi originalni recept, jak uspet.

The Prague Playhouse acting classes are for adults who want to work seriously on their acting craft. For Prague residents, both Czechs and English-speaking foreigners, there aren’t very many options to work in a cosistant and productive way. Aside from the odd play and the thirty second commercial auditions, there isn’t a place for working actors to come and sharpen the tools that they have. The Prague Playhouse School works from the teachings of Sanford Meisner, a member of the Group Theater and one of the most innovative and influential acting teachers of our time, as taught by the Playhouse West School in Los Angeles.

Brian Caspe grew up in California and studied music at the University of California, San Diego. While at the University, he worked in many plays with the theater department and also attended acting classes. After graduation, Brian moved to Los Angeles to pursue a career in acting. In LA, Brian studied acting at Playhouse West where he learned Meisner technique.
In the spring of 2001, Brian left LA and moved to Prague, where he has been acting in movies (Hellboy, Illusionist, Revelations, Young Hannibal among others IMDB) and commercials (Oskar, Pepto Bismal, Bass Ale, Stella Artois, Bacardi…more than 30 in all). He started teaching Meisner technique in April of 2003 simply because he wanted people to work with. Commercial auditions don’t really count as working on your acting! Since then, the acting class has grown in size and mission and Brian has high hopes for the future.

As you might have noticed, I’m changing things around here at Prague Playhouse. I’m hoping that the changes inspire people to contribute to the community and it will certainly make things easier to find and add. In the next week or so, I’ll be adding posts on things that are going on in and around Prague, directory listings with casting agencies, and much more.
