Some brave soul has uploaded the whole of a documentary on Sanford Meisner to Youtube. This should be required watching for anyone who is coming to the Prague Playhouse acting classes as well as anyone who is interested in learning about how a master teacher teaches.

The Czech Theater Institute (www.theatre.cz) is promoting a lot of Czech theatre festivals that should be pretty interesting. From the information page:
In addition to its activities throughout the Czech Republic (and now abroad), MOTUS continues its activities as organizer of the showcase of new theatre, Small Inventory (Malá inventura). The 5th showcase in 2007 will feature some of the most interesting theatre projects that have been created over the last year. Productions will be hosted at the Alfred in the Courtyard Theatre, the Archa Theatre, the Roxy NoD Experimental Space, Nablízko Theatre, Eliade Library at the Na Zabrádlí Theatre and the Duncan Centre.
Many of the productions are movement based productions making the work accessible to international audiences.
There are various festivals listed running from January to March. Check it out!

The Prague Playhouse acting classes are taking on a new life. Moving to Mondays and Wednesdays, the class is going to start looking much more like a rehearsal with scene work and working towards producing a play. We are interested in getting a core group of people together who will rehearse and study. The core group will encourage others to participate. The classes will still be in Czech and in English, but if there is a great response we might move to separate classes for people who aren’t bi-lingual.
Anyone who’s interested should give send me an sms to 608 577 012.

We’re working on judging the pile of plays we received for the Prague Post Play Contest. There were a few plays that didn’t meet the length requirement and we’ll be looking at if there are any that we want to produce separately from the contest. All in all, we are delighted with the response and would like to congratulate all of the people who have taken part up to now.
The next stage, producing the plays is coming up! We’re going to be looking for actors and people to help out with the production, so if you’re interested, be sure to drop a line. The audition is probably going to be a cattle-call style milling about and should be a lot of fun. It will be a great opportunity for people from the community to meet others who are interested in theater and working on plays. More details to follow!
