The Sacred Sow
- a dark comedy on modern Ireland
The Prague Playhouse is excited to announce the next edition of their play readings, “Sacred Sow” by writer, community artist and musician Ellie Cummins. This fantastic play is scheduled for October 19th at Gusto (Vinohradská 83,Prague 2) at 19:30.
Sacred Sow has its roots set firmly in the past while casting a cold eye on perceived notions of Irishness, so of course it is a dark comedy. The play explores modern Ireland through the perspective of a son tied to his mothers apron strings against a back drop of foreign workers, belly dancing,Irish tradtional music, Hendrix and dark carry on in the pig house. This initial stage of the production will develop towards a full fledged performance at the Prague Fringe Festival in May/June 2008 and beyond.
Continuing our dedication to English speaking theatre, we hope that this reading of Sacred Sow will not only a great evening out but also encourage others to submit their new plays in the 2008 Prague Post Playwriting Contest.
