For those of you that weren’t able to come to JJ Murphy’s last night (I know, I sent the invite out late!), here’s a sample of what you missed. The Traditional Session was really amazing and several times listening to the music I got the distinct impression that I had to jump on the next plane to Dublin. Absolutely wonderful! You can still get a taste of this by coming to the Sacred Sow, which is playing as part of the Prague Fringe every day from NOW until June 1 at A Studio Rubin at 19:30. Tickets are available at the door and it only costs 150 Kc!
Listen to one of the tunes played by Mickey Dunne

Come one and all to the Sacred Sow which is playing EVERY DAY until June 1st at A Studio Rubin (Malostranske namesti 9) at 19:30!!
The show will probably start selling out towards the end of the run, so come and see it early. It’s a very dark look at family, outsiders and the idea of Home, all set in rural Ireland. Eileen Pollock stars as the overbearing mother, Mrs. Malloy, who will do anything to keep her family together and safe. For more information you can read the special Sacred Sow page.

The Prague Playhouse and Noel’s bar will be hosting a fundraising event for our upcoming production of “The Sacred Sow”!
Sunday, May 18 at 20:00 at Noel’s Bar, Anny Letenske 18, just near the tram stop Italska. Entry is free but we’ll be passing the hat and selling raffle tickets (some fabulous prizes on offer!), so bring pocket money!
Come join the fun as uilean piper Matej Tomes plays jigs and reels, along with Pullin’ Strings, Colm Dunne and Michael McNulty and friends! And if you have an instrument, bring it along as we’ll be inviting everyone to participate!
The Sacred Sow’s leading lady, Eileen Pollock, famous as Lilo Lil in BBC’s BREAD and as the money lender in Angela Ashes will perform a short Becket piece, joined by Michele Hanks…
There will be songs by Brendan Payne and some short Irish language poems read by Michael O’Shea.
Hope to see you there!

We’re very excited to announce our production for the Prague Fringe 2008: Ellie Cummin’s dark exploration of the challenges facing rural Ireland The Sacred Sow.
The Sacred Sow, starring Eileen Pollock of the BBC series BREAD, is a piece originally written for the 2007 Prague Post Playwriting Contest. After receiving a workshop in the fall of 2007, we decided to mount a full production for the Fringe Festival.
We will perform the show every night of the Fringe at 19:30 at A Studio Rubin (Malostranske namesti 9, Prague 1). Tickets are available through the Fringe Website.
More information is coming up!

Agenda Events is proud to present Ellie Cummins and Colin Broderick in a Writing Workshop

Writer Ellie Cummins’s play The Sacred Sow plays The Rubin Theatre Malastranka May 25th to June 1st. The play has attracted Eileen Pollack, stage and screen actress, in the lead. Ellie has a background as long as your arm in the arts, theatre, touring, short films, music and dance, often radical and challenging. Ellie Cummins has studied theatre, dance, and music and has a BA in English.
How do you access that primal beat? How do you write and get a flow? Where does the spark of inspiration come from? There are very practical ways to get your voice heard.
Check out Colin and Ellie’s workshop and get some answers!
