Mission Statement

The Prague Playhouse mission is to provide a home for English-language Theater in Prague.

- Provide a memorable and worthwhile theater that we can be proud of and that will make the audience feel that their time and money were well spent. Quality and integrity should be our guide when deciding what to produce and how to produce it. We should focus both on theater that we believe in as well as theater that the audience is interested in seeing.

- Provide support the local community. Support local artists by centralizing information, making it easier to know about auditions and projects, support local writers by providing a forum for their work to be worked on, produced, and seen. Support local audience by producing work that is stimulating and interesting and fun. Serve as a bridge between artists and audience.

- Provide a place for artists to learn, grow and practice their craft. We should actively encourage members to engage in new experiences, open up new New actors get training, new works get a platform.

- Provide a networking framework where for artists and audience. We should make knowing what’s happening in the community easy. We should place a premium on reaching out to those around us: audience members, artists, students, sponsors and other theater and social groups. Anyone who can add artistry and value to our work is welcome to join. We should always be looking for opportunities to open up new channels of communication.

- Provide a fun and social environment for artists and audience. We need to remember that we do this work for the love of it. Many of the people involved will be volunteering their time and energy. We should strive to make the environment as friendly and open as possible. That atmosphere will translate to the audience in the way that our participants interact with them and with each other.

- Push for excellence at every level: in ourselves, in our work and in our relations with others. We should always be looking for areas where we can improve. The area should not be limited to artistic endeavors, but also organizational matters. Everyone should be constantly looking out for ways to innovate.

    Dear all,
I am very impressed with your ethos and I would be very pleased to get involved with your group, probably with production, but I am also interested in your acting class. By the way hello to Peter Maivald, I had a pleasure of working with him on my tiny (unfinished) short film at the PCFE film school. I love the theatre and I am pleased that you are cooperating with the Prague Fringe Festival, because Steve is a very good friend of mine and because I believe in the Fringe also.

    All the best,

    Lucie Stotter
