Glengarry Glen Ross
by David Mamet
January 2009
It’s the law of the jungle: every man for himself. A gripping drama about the lengths man will go to to make the sale. David Mamet’s classic play set in the thick of a sales contest shows the bareness of capitalism and the men who go through the grind every day to carve out their share of the “American Dream”. Here is Mamet at his very best, writing with brutal power about the tough life of tough characters who cajole, connive, wheedle, and wheel and deal for a piece of the action — where closing a sale can mean a brand new cadillac but losing one can mean losing it all.

The Real Inspector Hound
by Tom Stoppard
April 2009
In Tom Stoppard’s exploration of what is real and what is imaginary, we see a play within a play where we are watching critics within the play making judgments about the play that they are watching. The reality of the play gets blurred when the action takes on a decidedly unexpected turn. In The Real Inspector Hound, the idea of the stage is deconstructed, and the possibility of the audience’s participation in the world of the play is explored. Perhaps, to paraphrase Shakespeare, all the world literally is a stage.
I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change
by Joe DiPietro and Jimmy Roberts
June 2009
The trials and tribulations of being single, dating, marriage, loss, and heartbreak are cleverly explored in this hilarious musical. I Love You, You’re Perfect, Now Change addresses everything in the relationship process that you have ever secretly thought about. Some of their satire includes what it means to be a part of the crazed, hopeless single scene; Cold feet and the pre-wedding realization; The in-laws; The 30 years of marriage…etc. Basically everything that you are afraid to admit.

Greetings! I am a teacher at the Prague British School and I am eager to find daytime theatre performances to take my students. I wasn’t able to access your mailing list (page was down), but would really appreciate notice of such events suitable for students 11-18 years of age. Thank you, LG

Young People’s Concerts…
For theatre, I don’t know, but I do know The City of Prague Philharmonic Orchestra will start doing regular major concerts of film music and major classics that everybody loves, starting in the fall (2008), in the Rudolfinum and Obecny dum. There are plans to do “Young People’s Concerts,” Leonard Bernstein style, with oceans of strings and the full philharomic of about 100 musicians. They do music for major int’l films in Prague for decades and on tour. Contact: http://www.ConcertsPrague.com
